I remember first being enthralled with capturing images when my grandfather showed me how to use a light meter to get readings for him in Eastern Tennesee, circa 1986. I didn't know what the numbers meant or why his Minolta 35mm film camera needed that information to capture what I already saw with my own eyes. Something about the whole process appealed to my scientific brain, and when I saw the end result (some black and white stills of my grandmother's garden) I wanted to help him take more and more photographs.
For some reason, that experience didn't stick with me and I never developed a passion for photography until 2003. I had a Nikon E2300 with me as I took the train from Portland, OR to Glacier National Park in Montana. During that trip I took a lot of underexposed, awkward frames but also a few of my favorite photos to date.
Since then, I've been developing my photographic skills and will strive to get better. I currently shoot with a Pentax K10D and have collections on Flickr and PhotoShelter as well as this here blog. I hope to keep this updated every other day or so with my favorite images.
Enjoy!!
